Dear Members and Friends of Lutheran Church of the Living Christ,
Grace to you and peace from our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
I have some good news to share. Both my computer and my cell phone are now in working order. It took some time, but I think that all of my usual means of contact are back in business. Thanks for your patience. Although I have a few things to do outside of the home today, I should be spending most of the day at or near the computer working on things that I was not able to do earlier this week due to my computer issues.
The choir will be singing this Sunday. Please gather at 8:40 a.m. for practice.
Please note that 8th grade youth will have confirmation this Sunday at a different time and place. The 8thgrade youth only will be joining me at the church parsonage (W147N10304 Heritage Hills Parkway) from 5:00 p.m. to 7:20 p.m. to watch the movie Luther and discuss the Reformation time period. The rest of the confirmation youth will meet at the usual time (6:00 p.m. to 7:15 p.m.) at the church.
This Sunday is the final Sunday for Dr. Beck’s study on the “wilderness.” Please join the group this week even if you have been unable to be a part of the study over the last couple of week. We meet at 8:00 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall.
To help you prepare for worship on Sunday:
Prayer of the Day
Almighty God, the resplendent light of your truth shines from the mountaintop into our hearts. Transfigure us by your beloved Son, and illumine the world with your image, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

II Corinthians 4:3-6

Social Ministry - Menomonee Falls Area Food Pantry: We are having a food drive for Falls Area Food Pantry through February. Canned pears and mandarin oranges, pork and beans, tomatoes, low salt vegetables and soups, and toothpaste are items most needed at this time. Did You Know that the Food Pantry in Menomonee Falls holds a fundraiser the 1st Saturday of every month? This is a hot dog sale ($1 with chips and drink) from 10 am--2 pm at the Piggly Wiggly grocery store on Appleton Avenue. Consider volunteering at one of these sales or give support by buying lunch there.
Women’s Ministry for February - The women’s gathering will be held on February 17th from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. We will continue to study Dr. Beck’s “Understanding Your Bible.” Our hope is to finish Chapter 2 and start Chapter 3. There is always plenty of coffee and snacks to enjoy. We hope to see you there.
Lenten Worship and Meals Schedule - Wednesdays in Lent worship services will be held each Wednesday from Ash Wednesday, February 18 through Wednesday, March 25. Beginning on Wednesday, February 25, a meal will be served at 6:00 p.m., and all services begin at 7:00 p.m., including the Ash Wednesday service (however, no meal will be served on Ash Wednesday). If you would like to help be a part of one of the meals, please see the sign-up sheet in the back of the church or contact Pastor Spies.
First Communion Instruction for 5th Graders - Pastor Spies would like to meet with any 5th grade youth interested in First Communion instruction and their parents (or godparents) on Sunday, March 8following worship. We should be able to start at about 10:15 a.m. Future meetings and times will be determined during that first gathering. The date for First Communion will be determined by the group when we meet, but it will most likely be on March 29 (Palm Sunday). If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Pastor Spies as soon as possible.
Have a blessed weekend!
