Dear Members and Friends of Lutheran Church of the Living Christ,
Grace to you and peace from our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Laurie Powers, our Financial Secretary, has noticed in recent years that many people leave their annual financial reports at the church indicating that many of you may not need those statements for your records. Therefore, she has asked that if you would like a statement for 2014 giving please let us know. She is happy to do those for you, but we thought we might try a more targeted approach this year. Several of you have already let Laurie or me know of your desire to have a printed statement. If so, thank you. A list has been started. However, if you have not let us know, please do so soon. Those statements are usually printed near the end of January each year, so that time is getting closer. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
The choir will be singing this Sunday. Please gather together at 8:35 a.m. for practice.
Sunday School and Confirmation classes will be held this Sunday. We look forward to seeing the youth there!
Also, don’t forgot our annual meeting. That takes place this Sunday, January 18, at 10:15 a.m. We will be voting on a budget for 2015, electing church council members, and receiving reports. I look forward to seeing you there.
Dr. Jack Beck’s latest Bible Study for adults and high school youth will take place on February 1, 8, and 15 at 8:00 a.m. The topic will be Wilderness and the Word. Here’s a quick look at the themes for this study: The events of the Bible unfold across a great variety of landscapes including that which the biblical authors call “wilderness.” This session will explore the nature of the wilderness and see the roles it plays in Bible communication. As time permits, we will explore the role of wilderness in the disqualification of Moses (Numbers 20:1-12), the temptation of Jesus (Matthew 4:1-3), and the poetry of Psalm 23.
To help you prepare for worship on Sunday:

I Samuel 3:1-10
Psalm 139:1-6, 13-18
