Dear Members and Friends of Lutheran Church of the Living Christ,
Grace to you and peace from our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
It’s another busy weekend at LCLC. First of all, the choir will be singing this Sunday. Choir members are asked to gather at 8:30 a.m. for rehearsal.
Next, the CROP Walk takes place this Sunday. As you know, Dr. Marmy Clason and Karen Peters have been gathering support for weeks. This Sunday will be your final opportunity to contribute to their efforts. 25% of the offerings gathered for this project will stay in Washington County to support those who are hungry in our community. The rest will go to support national and international organizations. Please see Marmy and/or Karen if you have any questions or would like to offer any support. Karen said that she will be happy to provide a ride for youth who want to join them on the walk. She will meet those who need a ride at the church at 11:30 a.m. She said that she would be happy to take the youth back home after the event, since we are not sure of an exact return time. Please check with Karen if you have any questions regarding that.
Our Men’s Ministry will be gathering this week on Tuesday. Please see details below.
Our Women’s Ministry will be gathering later in the month. Again, please see details below. Although I have ordered the booklet that the women will be using for their reflection and have received confirmation that they are on their way, I have not received the actual package as of today’s mail. I will keep monitoring the situation and will let you know when I do receive those – hopefully in time for worship on Sunday.
Big Cedar Bluegrass Band will join us again next Saturday, October 11. The cost of the concert is $10 or $8 per person if you bring a canned food item to donate to the food pantry. The church receives a portion of the proceeds for the evening, so it functions as a fundraiser for our ministries as well as a wonderful evening of entertainment. Drinks will be provided, but I will need help in providing “goodies” during the intermission. If you are willing to donate something, I would appreciate that. A freewill offering is taken for those items, and the money from that will go into our budget for the year. Thanks for your attention to this.
And, finally, our congregational picnic is coming up on Sunday, October 12. As part of that celebration, we will be receiving our Time and Talent Sheets for 2015 and our pledges for financial resources to help us do Christ’s work in this community. It will all start with worship at 9:00 a.m., activities following worship, and lunch at 11:30 a.m. The plan for the various activities will be adjusted as needed depending upon the weather. Please pick up your packets this Sunday if you have not already had a chance to do so.
To help you prepare for worship on Sunday:
Prayer of the Day
Beloved God, from you come all things that are good. Lead us by the inspiration of your Spirit to know those things that are right, and by your merciful guidance, help us to do them, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen.
Flowers on Sunday are given by Joni Whitehouse in celebration of Dave’s birthday (10/4).

Please bring your donations, also any canned meats (higher proteins items), to our collection boxes in the narthex.
October Men’s Ministry - Our next Men’s Ministry gathering will take place on Tuesday, October 7 beginning at 7:00 p.m. We will gather at the home of Joe and Eileen Nelson located at N106W15777 Adams Ct. Our group is growing, and we had the largest crowd ever at our September gathering. But there is always room for more. See you there!
October Thursday Fellowship and Worship Experience - Our next Thursday Worship opportunity will be on Thursday, October 9. We will begin with a meal at 6:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. If you would like to bring something to eat that evening, there will be a sign-up sheet at the church to let us know what you plan to bring. Then we will gather for worship (with communion) in the sanctuary at 7:00 p.m. The evening will conclude with an activity designed to help us get to know one another better (and have a little fun) beginning at 7:45 p.m. The evening should conclude at around 8:45 p.m. You are invited to come to any or all of the activities for the evening.
Women’s Ministry - Our next Women’s get together will be on Tuesday, October 21 at 1:30 p.m. for Bible Study and refreshments at LCLC. The study will be on Dr. Jack Beck’s paperback “Understanding the Bible.” We will discuss the introduction and first chapter. If you do not have the book; we will have them at the study and work through the chapter together.
