Dear Members and Friends of Lutheran Church of the Living Christ,
Grace to you and peace from our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
It’s another busy weekend at LCLC.
First of all, thanks for your support of the CROP Walk this year. Our walkers raised $867! 25% of those funds will stay in Washington County to help with hunger issues locally. The rest will go to support local, national, and international organizations that help to provide food for those in need.
Tomorrow, Saturday, October 11, Big Cedar Bluegrass Band will join us for another concert at the church. The concert starts at 7:30 p.m., and it should conclude at about 10:00 p.m. The cost of the concert is $10 or $8 per person if you bring a canned food item to donate to the food pantry. The church receives a portion of the proceeds for the evening, so it functions as a fundraiser for our ministries as well as a wonderful evening of entertainment. Drinks will be provided, but I will still need help in providing “goodies” during the intermission. At this point I only have a couple of options committed. Healthy “goodies” are good too. If you are willing to donate something, I would appreciate that. A freewill offering is taken for those items, and the money from that will go into our budget for the year. Thanks for your attention to this.
On Saturday we will also need some help to set up tables for our Sunday picnic plans. I plan to be at the church beginning at 4:00 p.m. to help with set-up and to take care of a few other things. I am not certain when others were planning to do their various organizational things, but if you could join me anytime between 4:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., I would appreciate the help. After 5:30 I will need to focus on getting ready for the concert and another commitment that I have for the evening. But, anytime between 4:00 and 5:30 would be wonderful.
On Sunday, the worship service will start at 9:00 a.m. We will meet in the sanctuary for worship. Then we will go to the Fellowship Hall for fellowship, games, and other activities. The lunch will start at 11:30 a.m. We will eat in the Fellowship Hall. If weather permits, we may have some outdoor activities as options. Don’t forget to bring your Stewardship packets on Sunday. If you did not pick yours up, you should have received it in the mail. If not, please contact me, and I will get you a packet. We will receive those packets during the worship service as a special part in our worship time together.
To help you prepare for worship on Sunday:
Prayer of the Day
Lord of the feast, you have prepared a table before all peoples and poured out your life with abundance. Call us again to your banquet. Strengthen us by what is honorable, just, and pure, and transform us into a people of righteousness and peace, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen.
Flowers are Sunday re given by Herb and Lorrie Cup.

Menomonee Falls Food Pantry - An updated list of most needed items just recently came in. Those items are cereal, chunky soups and cream of mushroom soup, canned peas and mixed vegetables, crackers, boxed rice, and also jelly. Please bring your donations, also any canned meats (higher proteins items), to our collection boxes in the narthex.
Women’s Ministry - Our next Women’s get together will be on Tuesday, October 21 at 1:30 p.m. for Bible Study and refreshments at LCLC. The study will be on Dr. Jack Beck’s paperback “Understanding the Bible.” We will discuss the introduction and first chapter. If you do not have the book; they are available at church on the usher’s counter.
High School/Adult Sunday School Opportunities - Pastor Lester Spies will be offering a class for all High School aged youth and adult on Sundays October 19 and 26 and November 2, 9, and 16. The class will take place prior to worship on each of those days. We plan to start at 8:00 a.m. and conclude the study at about 8:45 a.m. in order to get ready for worship at 9:00. The lessons will focus on the theme Signs of the Kingdom – Studies in Matthew. The 2014 year has been filled with reflection on the stories from the Gospel According to St. Matthew. A little closer reflection on some of these stories seems like a good way to end this church year. Please feel free to come to any or all of the studies as they fit into your schedule.
Menomonee Falls Food Pantry - Volunteers are needed for Tuesday, October 28 and Thursday, October 30 from 11:45 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. or 4:45 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A sign-up sheet will be posted in our narthex. We need 5 volunteers for each shift.
Blood Drive - On Saturday, November 8th, LCLC will again be hosting a blood drive to benefit The American Red Cross. The hours of the drive will be from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. For an appointment please contact Tim Zylka @ 262-361-2447. “The need is constant. The gratification is instant. Give blood.”
Have a blessed weekend!
