Dear Members and Friends of Lutheran Church of the Living Christ,
Grace to you and peace from our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
The choir will not be singing this weekend. But we will gather again on Wednesday, May 7 at 6:30 p.m. for practice.
Although I am always grateful for your presence at worship at whichever service fits best into your schedule and preference, this Sunday I am hoping that as many people as possible will choose the 10:30 service option. We are blessed to have the Washington Brass Quintet join us for worship at the 10:30 service. The group is made up of Mike Betz (trumpet), Ben Perthel (trumpet), Ken Carson (horn), Dave Kliss (trombone), and Jonathan Bell (tuba). They are a professional group who will be offering their gifts and talents for free for us in thanks for the fact that we let them use our space for practice from time to time during the year. This is rare opportunity for us as a congregation, so I hope that you will able to join us at 10:30 and I hope that you will invite a friend or two to join you. Thank you to Tim Zylka for coordinating this group’s presence with us this week. He has a few more guest musicians coming up in the weeks ahead, and I will keep you posted as we get closer to those as well.
This Sunday we will also have our congregational meeting at 9:15 a.m. for the purpose of presenting a couple of proposed changes to our congregational constitution. Item one regards our annual meetings in December and January. The proposal is to move to one annual meeting in January to receive approve budget, elect council members, and receive reports. Item two regards our current mission statement. The council has a proposal for a new, briefer mission statement. There may be a couple of additional congregational updates as well, but nothing else that will require formal changes to the congregational constitution. Thank you for your attention to this important matter.
My wife has been working on a new website for the congregation, and, although it is moving along nicely, it is still in the “work in progress” phase. You can go to the site to watch choir anthems and sermons, look at current or past newsletter, view photos, get up to date information (including these weekly updates), and the like. Please feel free to visit it or tell some friends about it so that they can learn more about our congregation. The site is located at: www.lclcgermantown.org

Menomonee Falls Food Pantry - Our next turn at the Menomonee Falls Food Pantry is Tuesday, May 13 and Thursday, May 15. Please look for the sign-up sheet on the bulletin board. Please note that the arrival times have changed for volunteering. The afternoon shift now begins at 11:45 a.m. and the evening shift begins at 4:45 p.m. Here is our schedule for the remainder of the year: August 5 & August 7 - October 28 & October 30 - January 20 & January 22, 2015. Social Ministry - Our Kids Closet provides gently used kids clothing to needy families of Washington Co. The clients go to St. Mary’s clinic at set dates to get the clothing. They are short on donations for clothing and would like us to help spread the word. Their spiffy new donation bin is at St. Boniface just waiting to be filled! If you have donations you would like to drop off at our church, please place them in the narthex, same white boxes used for food pantry. See their blog spot: http://ourkidscloset.blogspot.com/
Beds, frames and/or mattresses, are needed for the Somali refugee family’s 7 children. Contact Linda Stehman if you wish to donate at 414-434-0932 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you to those who have already made me aware of their wish to donate.
On Sunday, June 1, during our 9:00 a.m. worship service, we will be recognizing graduating seniors (from High School, College, Graduate School, Trade School, etc.). Please let us know if you have someone from your family graduating by calling the church office at 262-251-5870 or sending an e-mail to Pastor Lester Spies at email@example.com by May 25. We don’t want to miss anyone!
July 4th Celebration - We would like to get a head start on the 4th of July event held at Fireman’s Park. We would like to stay with Coke products. We need Diet Coke, Sprite, Diet Sprite, Mountain Dew, Diet Mountain Dew and water. We could also use Lemonade and Root Beer. Please limit your purchase to these products. For other questions call Joan Kindberg at 262-674-1074 or Sandie Smith at 262-255-1977. Thank you for helping to make this event possible.
Have a blessed weekend!
