Christmas Poinsettia Orders DUE SUNDAY
We will again be decorating the worship area with colorful Poinsettia plants for the Christmas season. This year the poinsettias cost $10 for each 6.5 inch pot. They come in red, white, pink, and marble. A limited number of other sizes and colors are available at different costs. Please see Pastor if you have any special requests.
Christmas Giving Tree
The Gift Giving Tree "family" names are provided by the Gingerbread House of Washington County. The gift tags will be on the tree in the narthex. Please select a participant’s gift tag, buy a gift, and then return the wrapped gift, with the gift tag securely attached to the package. A return date has not been set, but look for additional information in the upcoming Sunday bulletin inserts. Please remember to bring your wrapped gift, with the name card attached, to church by Sunday, December 10. See Annegret Paas for further information.

Christmas Eve/Christmas Day Services
Christmas Eve services will be held on Sunday, December 24, at 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Please note that this year we will not have a 7:30 p.m. service. Christmas Day worship will be at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, December 25, and will be a service of lessons and carols. Both of the Christmas Eve services will feature candlelight and communion. As in the past, the 3:30 p.m. service will include a special time for the children. If you are interested in sharing any musical gifts and talents at either of the services, please contact Pastor Spies or Karen Peters as soon as possible. Pastor Kris Ertl will take responsibility for the 3:30 p.m. service, and Pastor Spies will take responsibility for the 5:30 p.m. service. We look forward to seeing you as we celebrate this wonderful gift of the Christ child.

Sunday School and Confirmation
Classes Begin Sunday, September 10 Sunday School and Confirmation classes for the fall will begin on Sunday, September 10, 2017. Sunday School classes will be held after the children’s message during worship each week. We anticipate that means that the kids will start classes around 9:20 a.m. each Sunday. Confirmation classes will be held on Sunday mornings, beginning on Sunday, September 10, from 10:15 to 11:00 a.m. each week (generally speaking). A complete calendar for the classes will be posted soon. Sunday School registration forms are available at the church. Classes are currently designed for children 4 years of age through 5th grade. Younger children who are ready to be a part of the pre-school group are also invited to participate. Please check with Pastor Spies or with the teachers of the classes if you have any questions. There is a cost of $15 per year per student (or $30 per family maximum) to help us cover the cost of the curriculum that we purchase. Although there is no cost for the Confirmation program (6th through 8th grade), students new to the program are asked to purchase a certain Bible that is used throughout the three year program. The cost of the Bible will be in the range of $15 to $20. Please see Pastor Spies if you have any questions regarding this educational ministry.

Fall Outreach/Service Chance
Over the past few years, some of us have been gathering together in the fall to make fleece blankets (NO SEWING REQUIRED) to give to area individuals and families in need of something to help keep them warm in the upcoming colder weather. Although any size is OK, we have made blankets in the past that are about 2 and half yards long. Due to additional responsibilities for Pastor Spies in serving two congregations, we do not have any selected evenings scheduled for group blanket making this year. However, Pastor Spies has already purchased or received more than enough fabric to make at least ten blankets, and we could use your help in putting these blankets together. This could mean service hours for youth in need of such hours for school organizations. This could be an activity for a group of people in the congregation. Or this could be something that individuals within the congregation would like to do while at home knowing that they will be going to someone in need. Please see Pastor Spies if you would like to help. He would be happy to get you the fabric and give you instructions for making the blankets. Our goals would be to complete at least ten before Christmas this year.
Our next Bunco night is Tuesday, January 16th from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Please join us for a fun evening and don’t forget to bring your new or nearly new item for our prize table. Please contact Shelley Erdman 262-502- 4162 with any questions.
